“Always remember that every hardship you’re experiencing right now will shape who you are in the near future.”
This is the guiding motto of 20-year-old student Maricel Sabado whose inspiration in life are her parents.
Maricel is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology (Non-STEM). She believes that with a background in engineering, she will benefit from the many lucrative opportunities in the field in the future.
For Maricel, education is of paramount importance because it’s an incalculable treasure that no one can take away. When asked about her proudest achievement, she shares an educational success story: being able to graduate high school with honors and finishing her thesis defense with flying colors.
When she’s not studying, Maricel likes to read novels, particularly the work of J.K. Rowling. She also listens to ballad music, and watches anime and Netflix shows. She’s also fond of strumming the guitar and playing badminton.
Maricel shares a message to her future educational sponsor/s: “I will be happier to have you in my life. I swear that I will do my best to show that the trust you gave to me will not go to waste. Take good care of yourself and don’t stress yourself too much because it can cause sickness. May the Lord God guide you with the path you’re taking right now.”
She also has a special message to her fellow learners: “Always remember that every hardship you’re experiencing right now will shape who you are in the near future. Time flies so fast and one day you’ll proudly congratulate yourself for making things happen and for getting everything you deserved. In amidst the pandemic, always prioritize yourself before others because at the end of the day you only have “you” but, never ever forget who was there when you have no one to lean on.”
