Our #BeBlessed Stories: A Teacher’s Mission

INSPIRING CHANGE, EMPOWERING WITH HOPE.

A Teacher’s Mission

Teaching has always been the passion of Shaine Dela Cruz. It is one of the ways that she can share her blessings to others. She is a hardworking individual who is driven by her goal to provide a better life for her family. Shaine wears several hats and it’s simply amazing how she can do all the things she does and still have a smile on her face! She is a field worker, a tutor of children with special needs for BCFI, and is one of the project heads of the Be Blessed Marketplace. She is also an entrepreneur who manages two online stores: Franzeene Online Shop and Crochet by Shaine. On top of all these, she is a loving mother to her daughter.

Tell us about yourself.

I’m Shaine Fhernanie Dela Cruz, 22 yrs old. I have been part of Bless the Children Foundation, Inc. (BCFI) since 2019.  I’m a field worker and tutor of children with special needs for BCFI. I’m also an entrepreneur who manages two online stores: Franzeene Online Shop and Crochet by Shaine.

I have always wanted to become a teacher since I was in grade school. It is the reason why I took Elementary Education in College. I became a pre-school teacher upon graduation in a small school in Metro Manila. My friend who is a former BCFI staff introduced me to the organization because they needed a tutor. On the last day of the school year, I decided to resign.

I was unsure if I liked to become part of BCFI, but I went to their office anyway to apply as a tutor. I can still remember Ma’am Eunice saying, “You can start tomorrow!”. I was nervous, excited, and doubtful at the same time!  It feels as if it was just yesterday, but as time pass I really felt how blessed and happy I’m since I started working here. As part of BCFI, I’m able to help not only the children with special needs but also their families.

Can you tell us about your goals and dreams in life?

My goal is to have a better life with my family. I would also like to grow and continue running my business.

What would you like to achieve this year?

I am challenging myself to save Php 50,000. I will be using this money for the construction of our house which I am now paying monthly.

I am proud that at the age of 22, I was able to invest in a house for our family and my daughter.

What is the hardest challenge you have encountered this past year?

2020 was really a challenging year for everyone. Since the pandemic started, my job which mainly involves working directly with children has been affected. I have been working from home and still continue to monitor the progress of the children that I handle through phone calls and chats.

It is all worth it though despite the challenges. I feel relieved every time I get good feedback from the parents of the students.

What is your #BLESSED story with BCFI?

I would like to express my gratitude for accepting me as part of this organization.

BCFI made it possible for me to invest in a house for our family. It also allows me to provide the needs of my daughter. On top of this, I was able to start a small business.

BCFI is like my second family. Staying here helped strengthen my weaknesses.

Let us share the hope around! What is your message for everyone who will be reading this?

There is always hope every time we open our eyes!

There are a lot of negativity around us but if we take a step back and open our eyes, we will realize that there’s a lot of things to still be thankful for!

Let us give hope to everyone. Small acts of kindness may change a life. It can give hope too! As you give hope to others, you also become a #blessing to them.

Stay kind. #BeBlessed.
